Why I Like This Book: So many reasons! For starters, how can you not love the coziness of any book that starts with a family that lives in a gingerbread house? 😊 The story is so cute. Leila is a little witch who is accustomed to being the best at everything. Imagine her surprise when she sets out to win The Magnificent Witchy Cake-Off and discovers she’s not very good at baking! She comes from a long line of talented bakers and she doesn’t want to let the family down. Also, she wants to WIN! And she is determined. So she sets aside flying, and carving pumpkins, and having fun and buckles down to researching recipes and practicing. Still, her baking is a disaster. Luckily, she discovers that “good sisters will always be there, especially when you need them the most.” Her three sisters teach her not only how to bake, but how to have fun at it. I won’t give away the end, but it’s just right! In addition to the delightful story, I LOVE the art in this book! So cute, and so full of fun details. Kids will enjoy poring over it reading after reading. There is just such a nice, cozy feel to both the story and the pictures. A great choice for any bookshelf!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 😊

what a perfect book for this month! And yeah – living in a gingerbread house sounds like exceptional fun. I love the premise of this story. As my mom used to say: Good enough is good enough. You don’t have to be perfect.
