Faithful Feet Sock Matching Game and Craft
by
Laura Sassi
Since one of the themes of Faithful Feet is how God loves it when we spread His love and grace to others, I thought your readers might enjoy this fun foot-themed game and craft using socks!
Here’s what to do:
1. Ahead of time, purchase several pairs white (or light colored) socks, so they are easy to color on using permanent markers. (Or: Find some gently used ones from your own kids’ collections.)
2. Next, read the story, pausing to enjoy each spread and soak up the message the God loves it when we use our feet (and hands and voices and whole selves) to share His love with others.
3. Arrange the socks on the floor or table, so the pairs are split up. Have the children take turns finding matching pairs. Fold each pair into a ball and set in a bowl or basket. Continue until all the pairs have been reunited.
4. Give each child a sock ball and have them sit in a circle. Then, have them take turns tossing to one another. With each toss, have the kids name one way they can share God’s love with others. Examples: hold the door for someone, invite someone to church, make someone a card, bake cookies for someone, pray for someone etc.
5. Finally, to help the children remember the book’s message, let each child pick one of the pairs of socks to decorate with faith-filled reminders of God’s love drawn with permanent pen or fabric marker. Messages could be in the form of pictures (hearts, crosses, rainbows etc.) or simple phrases like “God loves you!”
6. Each child can keep their pair of socks to remind them that God’ calls our feet “beautiful” when they help spread His good news to all! Or, they can give them away!

Why I Like This Book: This is a lovely introduction for little ones to some of the most well-known Bible stories, made fun by the playful focus on feet. Written in Laura’s trademark, fun-to-read rhyme, it carries the message of God’s love, while encouraging children to use their feet to spread goodness. Adults will certainly be able to use the book to help children see that they can use their feet to hold a door for someone, carry a package, fetch the mail, help a neighbor, bring cheer to a friend. The art is charming, filled with children, animals, and lots and lots of feet 😊. Another beautiful, creatively-told, faith-based book from Laura Sassi!
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 😊
