Perfect Picture Book Friday – Good Night, Little Bot

What a crazy whirlwind week this has been!  But here we are, happily arrived at Perfect Picture Book Friday!

My mom is recovering from surgery, so I’m going to be very short and sweet today because I’m short on time.  Just remember, my brevity is out of necessity, not because I don’t love you 🙂

I absolutely love today’s book, hot of the presses from my friend Karen Orloff (whom you may know from I Wanna Iguana and other awesome titles!)  Check it out!

Opening: “Little Bot, it’s time for bed.
Let’s get ready, sleepyhead.

Turn off TV.
It’s almost bedtime,
Can’t you see?
Don’t say ‘NO,’ and don’t protest.
Little robots need their rest.

Why I Like This Book:  Such a fun twist on robots and bedtime!  All the little robot details are delightful (powering down, sipping warm oil, combing circuits, brushing bolts, etc..)  The story is told in perfectly cadenced rhyme that is fun to read aloud.  And the bold, bright art and cute robots are just right for the story!  Cute and clever, delightful and fun, this is one that kids will demand again and again! 🙂

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 🙂

Looks like a fun new bedtime book that’s sure to soar off the shelf! The illustrations brought back fond memories of the Jetsons (I know, I’m dating myself).

Hope all is well with your mother. You’re in my thoughts & prayers.

All good and healing wishes to your mom, Susanna.
This is a really cute story…what is amazing is that in 2015, an almost exact story came out by Anna Stanizewski from a different publisher, Henry Holt…called Power Down, Little Robot. I bought a copy at an SCBWI event and think it is adorable…which I’m sure this one is also. But it just goes to show that there CAN be more than one very similar book out there…so to all of my writer friends who worry when they see a book come out that is similar to a manuscript they have written…don’t give up hope. 😉

Hope your mom is doing well! Best wishes for her speedy recovery!

Gotta love that sleepy little bot! This would have been a favorite for my son when he was small. The catbot on the cover would have drawn him in immediately.
