We made it, folks! TGIF!
So guess what?
It turns out I have actual psychic powers!
Remember that baby horse I said could be born on April 25?
Well, just minutes after midnight (around 12:23 AM) it actually was!
Look how beautiful! – a brand new filly (and for those of you who weren’t raised in a barn, that means a girl 🙂 )
Isn’t she just the cutest thing ever???!!! 🙂
Also big, strong, healthy, and full of beans! – a regular little firecracker sure to keep us (and her mama) on our toes! 🙂
Just wanted to let you know, since I promised I would 🙂
Now then, onto my Perfect Picture Book! In light of springtime and the new baby in our barn, I thought what better than a book about baby animals?
Title: Baby Animals (Explore My World Series)
Written By: Marfe Ferguson Delano
Photography Editor: Lori Epstein
National Geographic Children’s Books, July 2015, nonfiction
Suitable For Ages: 3-7
Themes/Topics: baby animals, nonfiction

Some babies snuggle on snowy sheets of ice.”
Brief Synopsis: A look at a day in the life of lots of baby animals – how they move, eat, bathe and sleep, what they’re called, and where they live.
Links To Resources: The book itself is a resource, full of information and gorgeous photographs; make a list of baby animals who live near you (in your yard, or a nearby park); draw a picture of a baby animal; discuss how baby people are like baby animals and how they’re different.
Why I Like This Book: The text is simple, interesting, and informative, sure to engage young animal lovers, but it’s the photographs that really sell the book to me 🙂 What’s not to love about gorgeous pictures of adorable baby animals? 🙂
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 🙂

Congratulations on your beautiful filly! And I just love the bear cub on his mama’s back! Have a great weekend, Susanna!
I love baby animals, in person or in books! Years ago, I had the fortune to witness a foal being born. Quite the experience!
I love that you got pictures of this newborn filly; the pictures snapped a childhood memory for me of when my little foal was born. There was just nothing like riding that mom with the curiously feisty foal trailing behind then running to catch up with us. Enjoy every minute of that little princess; what a joy!
How much fun — a new filly! I love National Geographic books for young children. Bought this book for my great grandson and it is a favorite.
Congrats to you & the proud Mama! And a perfect picture book choice to welcome your new little girl. I’m featuring a poetic pup today – guess it’s a perfect day for animal stories!
She’s SO cute! And yes, definitely the perfect picture book to celebrate spring.
Congratulations on your new baby! In the novel I’m writing (going to tackle a full revision soon) one of the inciting incidents is the difficult birth of a horse. Mother and child end up fine but the vet and his assistant have an unfortunate one night stand in their exhaustion.
I love the baby animal book! So sweet!
Oh my goodness…a new baby!!!! What a blessing to be part of that miracle, Susanna.
And the baby animal book is perfect!
Thanks for sharing the photos!!!
Congrats on the new filly! Loved the pics. Loved also your appropriate book for this week. Seems great minds think alike! 🙂
Congratulations on your beautiful new addition to your family!! We loved your photos!
